ABOUT METALSMITHS STERLING™

Metalsmiths Sterling™ is a UK inspired luxury brand of sterling silver jewelry. It has been one of the leading sterling silver jewelry design houses abroad for almost 15 years, and is now available in select boutiques and jewelry stores across the U.S. With quality that rivals that of the finest jewelry houses worldwide, Metalsmiths Sterling™ offers an enormous selection of modern, hand crafted sterling silver jewelry at prices to fit every budget.
Metalsmiths Sterling™ has over 30 exclusive collections with over 800 different pieces scaled for individual styles and ranging in price from $80-$1650. Many of the items feature an array of all natural, premium grade stones cut to the highest standards. In addition to mainstream gems such as diamonds, blue topaz and amethyst to name a few, they also utilize more unusual stones such as rutilated quartz, labradorite and prasiolite (aka green amethyst), in unique cuts that truly give the designs a one of a kind look. Some of the collections include Signature™, Panos Konidas™, Ink™, and Marquise™ collections.
The company began in 1998 when two brothers, both graduate gemologists and master fabricators from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) decided to fuse their respective passions – gems and design, to form a luxurious, unique brand where women could find hand crafted, fashion forward sterling silver jewelry. Their award winning designs have been worn by many including titans of industry and royalty.
Metalsmiths Sterling™ is proudly Canadian.

SILVER PROMOTION SERVICE TO INTRODUCE ‘SILVERMARK MANUFACTURER’ PROGRAM

Inaugural participants announced.
New York, NY (July 22, 2010), The Silver Promotion Service (SPS) today announced that it will introduce a new category on its ‘Savor Silver’ website, a ‘SilverMark Manufacturer’ section. The inaugural participants in the new program expansion include Metalsmiths Sterling of Toronto, Canada.
In commenting on the further expansion of the SPS program, Michael Barlerin, SPS Director, said “Ever since we first launched the website (www.savorsilver.com) with its ‘Designers of Distinction’ group, we have been approached by various silver jewelry manufacturers asking how they might also participate. SPS management recently decided that a manufacturer who met the SPS criteria and agrees to our terms and conditions should have the opportunity to receive the ‘SilverMark Manufacturer’ designation.” He went on to add, “We could not be happier about being able to launch the program with these high quality, design driven, international jewelry organizations.”
The announcement follows one made in June preceding the Vegas shows when the SPS announced that it would introduce the first new category on its website, ‘Silver Products & Services’. Both new categories are planned to go live on the site during the summer.
The Silver Institute’s Silver Promotion Service was established in 2008. The group’s objective is to develop and implement programs to enhance the image of and stimulate demand for silver jewelry initially in the United States.

Lead Designer for Metalsmiths Sterling Designs Accessories for International Titan of Industry

May 24 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Peter K.
Edmonton, AB - Metalsmiths lead designer is expanding the company’s custom stronghold by designing personalized collar stays for a variety of prominent international clients including commodity traders for the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) to Saudi Royalty. Additionally, as a result of the high demand for such men’s accessories, he has expanded the company’s collection of cufflinks, which he currently designs exclusively for clients of trendy boutique hotels such as the Hudson NYC and the Clift San Francisco.
The Vanderbilts and Henry Ford were known to wear Personalized 24k gold collar stays. Although a fairly new item for the everyday man, they have been a staple among the rich and famous for years. Metalsmiths has been making them for exclusive clients across North America and Europe for the past 6 years. “We simply use a client’s plastic, brass, or nylon collar stays from their favorite shirts. We then remake them by hand in Sterling Silver, 10k to 24k Gold, or Platinum, “says Peter Konidas, spokesman and designer for Metalsmiths. Names are engraved on one side, and a special message of importance on the other. Messages like: "success always", "The best is yet to come!", "$10,000,000 & just the beginning", "I love you,” “Failure is Not an Option”, "Good health, and prosperity", "Perseverance", "Never Give Up", “They said I couldn’t”. “These are super hot for us, “says Konidas, “we have a turnaround time of 8 weeks, because of the high demand.” This product is the best kept secret among the super affluent, and will now be available for all via custom order. Prices start at $245 for sterling silver. Customers interested in ordering should contact infometalsmiths.ca
As men’s style has come into the foreground of fashion, designers have been forced to expand their collections to keep up with market demand. Men’s accessories are no different. Due to the influx of French cuffed shirts into the market, Metalsmiths has expanded their collection of cufflinks to include designs that are hand enameled, to stainless steel with Carbon Fiber. In the past, Metalsmiths has designed cufflinks for Ian Schrager’s Morgans Hotel Group, which owns trendy five star hotels in the US and abroad. Priced from $48 you won’t find a more comprehensive collection anywhere.
Metalsmiths Accessories is a Canadian chain of 40 stores that specializes in high quality sterling silver jewelry and accessories. Metalsmiths lead designer was born and raised in Edmonton, AB. He is a graduate of the University of Alberta’s commerce faculty, who later went on to receive his masters in Gemology and jewelry manufacturing from the prestigious Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Santa Monica, CA. While at GIA, he had the distinct honor of working on the League of Honor medallion for the famed Nicholas Oppenheimer of DeBeers. He has been featured in numerous magazines including Modern Jeweler, Lapidary Journal, National Jeweler (USA), Gems and Gemology Magazine, JCK Magazine, Edmontonians and the Loupe Los Angeles. His work has been featured in several upscale galleries across the US including Los Angeles, New York, Las Vegas and Austin, TX. He joined Metalsmiths upon its inception in 1998 where he was given the freedom to use his creativity and love of gems and jewelry to design and oversee their product line. He most enjoys interpreting couture fashion pieces and creating them into luxurious items that are affordable for all of Metalsmiths customers.

Sizing Information

Ring Sizing Tips

Please note that ring sizing is a matter of comfort, above all: finger sizes fluctuate throughout the day and with temperature.
Additional information on ring sizing is available here: we recommend you check the size of a ring you currently love to wear against our sizing. We recommend you print out the attached pdf if you need help determining ring size: we do not recommend attempting to size using a mobile device.

Please note that most of our rings are classified as:

Sizable up or down by up to two sizes in half size increments: if the size you need is not available and falls within 2 sizes up or down of a ring we do have, we can likely size it for you. Charges will apply: see additional information on our ring sizing service available here

Sizable up by a half size: we can size the ring only up and only by about a half size: generally this is due to the detail on the piece and/or the setting of the stone. Charges will apply: see additional information on our ring sizing service available here

Unsizeable due to material or design constraints, the ring cannot be sized: the listed sizes are all that are available.

Additional Ring Sizing Advice

Temperature is Important

Don't measure when your body temperature is either too cold or too hot. A cold finger shrinks while a hot finger expands causing an inaccurate reading. Only measure when fingers are at room temperature.

When Two Sizes Seem to Fit

If you hesitate between two sizes, always go with the larger one.

A Wider Band Needs a Bigger Size

If you consider purchasing a wide band, move up a size from your measurement, for comfort’s sake.

Don't Use Strings

When measuring your finger, always refrain from using a string, they tend to stretch, which can result in wrong size. ALWAYS use a paper strip about 1/2" in width.

Big Knuckles Can Affect Your Size

If your knuckle is a lot larger than the base of your finger, measure both the base of your finger and your knuckle and select a size in between the two.

For Best Results, Use a Plain Band

Extra wide band styles tend to run slightly small. If you're borrowing a ring for sizing and it has a narrower shaft than the one you wish to purchase, you may wish to order a ring a size larger than the normal size worn. Also, large stone rings may cause the shank to lift up when laid on its side on the display, slightly distorting the size measurements.

Is There a Difference Between Sizes for Men and for Women?

No: ring sizes range in a continuous scale used for both men and women.

Chain Selection

Our pendants are sold with a Metalsmiths Sterling™ chain with a secure lobster clasp and logo tag of quality - the price includes a chain selected to best coordinate with the pendant. For most pieces, the standard length is an 18" chain, but more petite pieces may include a 16" chain and larger pieces may include a 20" chain: you can select your preferred length for any pendant upon purchase.

As a general guideline, 16" chains are considered choker length - pendants on this length of chain tend to sit near the base of the throat: 18" is standard or classic length, and usually lets the pendant rest near the collarbone or clavicle, above the collar of most shirts. 22" - 24" chains tend to sit a little lower, but still above the chest. 28" - 36" chains usually result in the pendant resting below the bust line and make for a more dramatic statement. The actual fit will vary from person: this is only a general guide.
